YOUR NEW ADULT CHEMISTRY LESSON
Hello class and welcome to Chemistry 101. Let’s get right down to business and I’ll share with you what chemistry is.
Chemistry (definition): The scientific study of matter, its properties, and interactions with other matter and with energy.
Romantic chemistry (definition): The combination of love, lust, infatuation and a desire to be involved intimately with someone.
Now, I don’t know about you, but I can see which branch of chemistry I prefer to discuss. And most characters in New Adult feel the same exact way. There’s something rather exciting about this time in our lives. That liberating feeling of being out on your own and living as an adult for the first time. Going to college, skipping class because you’d much rather focus on the chemistry you feel brewing for each other than sit in a dusty room and listen to yet another boring lecture…
So what exactly is chemistry in New Adult? It’s that delicious moment of awareness between the main characters when they see each other for the first time. That inexplicable pull they feel, that they must be with that person no matter what.
Putting the characters into situations where they must deal with each other on a regular basis only heightens the chemistry between them. Soon they become infatuated with each other. Start looking forward to being together every day. Lots of shared, filled with longing glances, a brief touch here, an intimate joke there. They’re building a trust between each other, one that they’re relying on more and more…
Until finally they give in to all of that agonizing, long built-up torture and come together. Whether it’s a long, dizzying kiss or something far more intimate, the chemistry between our two New Adult characters has just combusted.
And they couldn’t be happier.
So with that being said, ahem, there’s your chemistry lesson. Have a lovely day, class! *waves*

Breakout sensation Monica Murphy takes the New Adult genre by storm with the deeply emotional, completely addicting story of Drew and Fable.
Temporary. That’s the word I’d use to describe my life right now. I’m temporarily working double shifts—at least until I can break free. I’m temporarily raising my little brother—since apparently our actual mother doesn’t give a crap about either of us. And I always end up as nothing but the temporary girlfriend—the flavor of the week for every guy who’s heard the rumor that I give it up so easily.
At least Drew Callahan, college football legend and local golden boy, is upfront about it. He needs someone to play the part of his girlfriend for one week. In exchange for cash. As if that’s not weird enough, ever since he brought me into his world, nothing really makes sense. Everyone hates me. Everyone wants something from him. And yet the only thing Drew seems to want is . . . me.
I don’t know what to believe anymore. Drew is sweet, sexy, and hiding way more secrets than I am. All I know is, I want to be there for him—permanently.
