Flirt New Adult University – Academic Advising
INTRO TO HIGH SPIRITS 101
Welcome class! This is Intro to High Spirits 101, the undergrad’s pathway to the paranormal here at Flirt University. For those of you thinking this is the Art of Drinking 101, please exit now . . . ah, yes, I’m sure you’re all wise beyond beers but off you go . . .
Now, those remaining, I assume you are exploring paranormal career opportunities of some sort. Possibly the fangs, fur, or fae variety. Let me clear up a few concerns you may have in these particular occupations: no, you will not be required to nor expected to sparkle; yes, you will have fangs; no, specialized glaring techniques are not a pre-req; and yes, wearing shirts are optional for the guys.
As an intro to High Spirits, we will delve into all manner of the paranormal, those basic entry-level positions such as ghosts, sorcerers, or zombies. As well as the supremely coveted positions of the angelic or demonic order. These last two topics will contain sub categories including but not limited to: soulkeepers, soul seekers, reapers, grigori, demon knights, and spirit walkers. Specialized reading material, namely, the History of the Royal Court of Bastards, can be found under the Hell Yes! section in the basement of the student union bookstore. Please purchase the newest version as the Royal Court members are constantly changing due to decapitation or imprisonment in the death bunker. You can also find it online but the download will take a yottabyte so be warned.
Also, please purchase the companion book, Halos of the Son: the Supernatural Born Killers series, which can be found on the second floor. You can’t miss it; I believe the section has a faint glow.
While there, you might pick up a few scaretrons and several yellow No. 666 pencils. Occasionally, exams will be written in blood and extra credit may be given for papers covered in pixie dust.
As new adults out on your own for the first time, you are entering what we call the Post-adolescent Idealistic Phase, or PIP. You will experience new revelations as you search for the meaning of a truly supernatural life. So let’s crack open your hexbooks, Paranormal For PIPs. I expect you to peruse the index of High Spirit terminology but don’t be intimidated. I promise by semester’s end, you will all be highlingual.
Let’s begin with chapter one: the basic definition of Paranormal—that activity outside the range of norm or scientific explanation. At Mandrake University, outside the norm is the norm. As new adult PIPs, your focus on ‘normal’ college life will undoubtedly center around the standard dilemmas: hybrid dating—should I try it or should I stay with my own pack: coffin dorms—do I rent or buy: secret societies—shall I join a spirority or a faeturnity? As a future deviant, you will have many such decisions to make throughout your academic career.
Which brings me to my next topic, the standard Yolo misnomer. As any demon hunter will tell you, we have many lives to live, not just one. So don’t hesitate to stir up your own brand of paranormal activity. Have fun with it. Join the Sam and Dean LARPing Team and LARP for Laughs for your favorite scarity.
In closing, I hope I have opened a new realm of possibilities for all walking dead potentials. I look forward to our next series where I will continue to bring you out from the cupboard under the stairs . . .
