“GEORGIA ON MY MIND” by Marie Force
(ebook released 9/22/11)
Reviewer: Anne
Georgie Quinn is back home to settle her mother’s estate and keep the senior citizen’s center her mother founded running smoothly while the search is on for a replacement director. Living in her mom’s house along with two roommates, who have problems of their own, Georgie wonders how her life turned so quickly from one filled with an exciting job and glamorous lifestyle in Atlanta into one where drooling over a good-looking jogger each morning has become the most exciting part of her day.
While dumping the senior center’s trash one morning, Georgie comes face-to-face with the jogger, a/k/a Nathan Caldwell,a police detective and devoted environmentalist. Sparks ignite — in more ways than one. After a misunderstanding on recycling issues finds resolution, Georgie has one thing on her mind: a one-night-fling of mindless, non-committal sex with the gorgeous “gone green” detective. But once is never enough and Nathan doesn’t much like Georgie’s short-term plan. His plan calls for something much more permanent.
The cast of secondary characters includes a delightful group of senior citizens who add a comical side to the story, as well as presenting a multitude of complications that stand in the way of Georgie’s plan for a timely return to her job and home in Atlanta. There’s also an additional bonus of 3-romances-in-one-package when Georgie’s roommates, Tess and Cat, find themselves romantically entangled with two of Nathan’s brothers with demons of their own.
While fighting against her growing feelings for Nathan, facing pressures from her boss to return to Atlanta, and trying to keep the seniors safe and happy, Georgie must make a decision. But love doesn’t always follow schedules or rules. Sometimes what’s perfectly right finds you when everything else is all wrong.
Marie Force is absolutely brilliant in breathing life into her characters. This is probably the strongest reason why I fell head-over-heels in love with her writing. She gives you characters you care about long after the last word is read. There’s always well-developed and believable romance – with the plus factor being you can count on it sizzling!
“Georgia On My Mind” meets real life issues head-on. It will easily touch your heart with a variety of emotions. If you love a book, in spite of any flaws it may suffer, it’s a keeper. This one meets that test. You’ll laugh and you’ll cry. Most importantly, I’m betting you’ll have a satisfied smile on your face when you reach the end.

As a reader, do you prefer romance books that devote the storyline to only one romantic relationship or, do you prefer ones that include multiple romances? Why?

I prefer multiple romances that are interweaved together. It allows the reader to remain intrigued by story line.

Multiple romances !!!!!!!!! I enjoy knowing love and romance exists and the more I can read about makes my day !!! thanks so much for the opportunity to win a free book.. Rosemary Foley
Oh yeah! Bring on the romance and Marie certainly does in her books. Good luck!
It doesn’t matter as long there is a strong plot and storyline!
Katie, I think the strong storyline is the key to any good book. Thanks for stopping by and for your comment!
Normally just one, but with the beginnings of other possibilities for future books in the series.
Jennifer C – thanks for commenting. In GEORGIA ON MY MIND, there are three romances but the lead couple are never overshadowed. Marie has a gift for balancing!
I say you can never have enough romance the more romantic stories the better the book.
I couldn’t agree more Gail! I love a love story or stories, as the case may be. Thanks for commenting.
I prefer one main romance with secondary characters introduced or their stories touched on from a previous story.
Thanks for commenting Laurie G. This book offers a delightful and captivating romance for its lead couple from beginning to ending.
I like the book to focus on the main relationship between the hero and heroine.. but I also enjoy blossoming romances between the supporting characters as well! I also like it when those secondary romances turn into a follow up book in a series!
Hmmm – wonder if we can talk Marie Force into a follow up story? Thank so much for stopping by and for your comment.
I love books in a series. Interwoven so the characters live on in the next books in the series. I love to see the follow-up of their lives.
Oh Ulrike, you are talking my language! I love series books and sometimes I have so many going at one time I need a black notebook to keep them all straight in my head. Thanks for commenting!
Oh you are talking my language now! I’m a series fanantic and sometimes I have so many going I need a notebook to keep the characters all straight in my head. Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment!
I like one main relationship that is the focus of the book, but I don’t mind secondary romances throughout.
Thanks for stopping by Lori D! The secondary romances in GEORGIA ON MY MIND blended in perfectly within the storyline and never distracted from Georgie and her happily ever after!
I like one main romance storyline — but with secondary characters that are strong

Audra, good strong secondary characters are the backbone of a good storyline for me. Often times, I find them to be the spark that ignites the lead couple. Thanks so much for stopping by!

For me, it depends on the length of the book. If it’s under 70K words, I’d say keep it focused on one romance. But if we’re talking about 70K or over, a secondary romance would be welcome!
Never thought of it in those terms, Sophia, but I might just agree with you on that point. Glad you stopped in and thanks for commenting.
the book sounds so interesting ,i would love to read the book.
Oh Sue, it is delightfully interesting. The characters are memorable. Hope you get a chance to read GEORGIA’s story soon. Thanks for stopping by!
I read and enjoy both as long as it is romance first and not last.
If you have read any of Marie’s books, you know romance & relationships are front and center in her books. Same goes for Georgie’s book. Glad you stopped in and thanks for commenting.
I enjoy a story with multiple romances. I like it because it shows the development of secondary characters and could possibly lead to a follow up book.
I’m not sure we’ll get a second story from this release by Marie but have you tried her “McCarthys of Gansett Island” series? Marvelous books – each and every one. Thanks for commenting.
I enjoy books where there is a secondary romance. As others have said, it sets the stage for a possible sequel.
Thanks for commenting, Kim! It would seem this group likes series books.
I don’t mind stories with multiple romances as long as the main characters stay in the foreground. If the secondary romance(s) intrudes too much upon the main story line then it just makes it a jumbled mess. Granted, life is messy at times but who wants to read about it when most people live it? I’d rather read something that gives me an escape from the real world rather than have it reinforced LOL! This does sound like a good read and one I look forward to checking out!
Lora, I hope you will give GEORGIA ON MY MIND a read. I think you’ll find it delightfully rewarding. Thanks for coming by today!
I actually like both. I like stories with romances between secondary characters, although I usually prefer that the romance be limited to one other couple. I also like when the romance has just one couple in the book.
Hi Rebel – thanks for stopping in. Georgie and Nathan keep their romance front and center. Both are strong-willed and it’s fun to watch them take the tumble together.
I enjoy a central romance with strong characters.
This book sounds very entertaining. I am new to Marie Force and I look forward to checking this out!
Thanks so much for coming by, Kristen! You know how I love Marie’s books – I think you’ve even gifted me one or two! Hope you’ll read Georgie’s story.
As long as the focus stays on the centrsl characters, I don’t have a problem with multiple romances in a book.
I agree, MaryC and I can promise you that is the case in this story. Thanks for visiting and for your comment!
I love stories with interactions among lots of characters, but I prefer one central romance.
Welcome LSUReader! Georgie and her fellow cast members keep the interactions going strong in this story. Even the seniors will steal your heart away. Thanks for comment!
It really doesnt’ matter to me I love both type of stories but if there are two many romances going on its hard to keep up with.
Thanks for your comment, Quilt Lady! GEORGIA ON MY MIND has wonderful characters, both young and old. They’re easily identifiable and certainly unforgettable.
I like one main relationship. If there is a minor romance going on the side, leading to another book maybe, while not being too obvious….thats good too. Well, done, either way is good of course.
Lisa, the main relationship in GEORGIA ON MY MIND keeps going full-throttle from beginning to ending. It’s really quite captivating and Georgie and Nathan are simply perfect for each other. Thanks for your comment and for visiting R@R!
I have never read any of Marie’s work, but this great review certainly makes me want to check out GEORGIA ON MY MIND.
Hey there Connie N – thanks for visiting me here at R@R. I’m glad my review plants a seed for another reader to try Marie Force’s terrific list of books. And “Georgia” would be a great place to start!
Awesome review Anne. Marie is one that can handle multiple story lines without neglecting the main couple.
Thanks so much, Mary G! Glad you stopped by R@R!
I’m really looking forward to this book!
I like stories that focus on multiple romances but I want one main one to stand out. If too many romances are featured, then their personal stories might get thinned out and less appreciated.
Na, thanks for visiting R@R and commenting. I hope you enjoy GEORGIA ON MY MIND.
more than one romantic storyline is great – more depth to story and always happy to see secondary characters happy too. lol.
Lynn, thanks for stopping by and commenting. There’s some hurdles to overcome but these characters are sure to find their HEA!
I like one real romance per book. It makes the book meatier. But hinting at a romance for another character taking the lead in the next book is okay. Leaves me wanting more.
Hi TrishJ – thanks for commenting and for visiting R@R. I’m always hoping for a new book by Marie Force.
one main relationship, then others — maybe their friends? — that could possibly spin off into more enjoyable stories.
will these only be eBooks?? don’t have a reader [yet]
Hi Sandy! Thanks so much for visiting and for your comment. Great question, too! It is my understanding that Marie is hoping to get all of her ebooks into paperback form as quickly as she’s able. Here’s hoping Santa sees your wishlist!
Anne,
Thank you so much for the lovely review of Georgia on My Mind and to everyone who stopped by to comment, I enjoyed reading your thoughts.
Sandy,
Georgia is currently available in print at https://www.createspace.com/3695928. I’m working on getting the others posted asap for print.
I love books that are intwined in some way or another. It’s funa and interesting to see what has happened to some of the characters and where their stories have lead them. But i appreciate a great story no matter how I can get it.
Thanx
