My Hunger (Inside Out #3.2) by Lisa Renee Jones
My Hunger is sensual little treat that will satisfy your craving just long enough while you wait for The Master to return in I Belong To You this November.
I took the author’s advice and went ahead and started with Master Undone before reading My Hunger. I think it truly did make the experience of reading My Hunger more enjoyable. I have not read the entire Inside Out Series and was a bit concerned that I would not be able to keep up with the story. Let me assure you that this story is an excellent standalone novella. I was drawn into the story from the very beginning and did not want to see it end.
My Hunger picks up right after Master Undone where Crystal Smith and Mark Compton are dealing with their feelings and emotions after having an extremely unforgettable moment of passion. Crystal sees it as just a onetime occurrence. Where Mark does not do spur of the moment. He has to have things planned out where he is in control. He is a Master of BDSM. Never has he experienced anything like what happened between him and Crystal.
“My reaction to her remains wholly illogical in every way. She is blonde, when I like brunettes; outspoken and quick-witted when I prefer quietly intelligent; and last night she painted a picture of obvious expectancy, where as I crave eager and willing.”
Crystal is bright, sexy, and intelligent and also comes from a very wealthy family. She refuses to be a trust fund baby and sets out to prove herself at Riptide. She and Mark’s mom hit it off because they are so much alike and after a short period they have become very close friends. Crystal can often be found at Mark’s mother’s bedside. Mark finds the bond between Crystal and his mother to be intriguing. He knows that with Crystal there is more than meets the eye and that she does not have a submissive bone in her body. Mark also knows that he craves control and after the epic failure of his last relationship he will not ask anyone to participate in a BDSM lifestyle that is not already doing so. The burning question is whether or not Mark will walk away from what could be the best thing that ever happened to him, or if will he is brave enough to give up control and go after the woman that makes him feel alive and free?
“Her touch is like freedom, escape, and the answer to that mindless burn that needs satisfying. There are no games, none of me tormenting us both with anticipation.”
The author does an excellent job with character development. Crystal and Mark are complete opposites and Lisa Renee Jones does a great job portraying this throughout this story. Ms. Jones hooked me with this novella and now I am counting the days until conclusion of Mark and Crystal’s story in I Belong To You.
