Those sexy treats are what make a BDSM story hot, right?
I have to admit that writing in the BDSM genre isn’t about the hot and steamy love scenes for me. Okay, it’s an added plus and writing those scenes always leaves me pink cheeked. Though for me, what makes a BDSM book so hot is the emotional connection between the dominant and the submissive. Read more

Fear yanks me from a deep sleep, and I sit bolt upright in a room shrouded with gray, the muted green light from a digital alarm clock announcing that it is just after midnight. My breath comes in gasps, and my eyes are wide but unseeing. The last remnant of an already forgotten nightmare brushes against me like the tattered hem of a specter’s cloak, powerful enough to fill me with terror, and yet so insubstantial that it evaporates like mist when I try to grasp it. Damien is right there, only inches from me, and the air between us seems to hum. Every tiny hair on my body stands up, as if I’m standing in a lightning storm with danger crackling all around me. I gasp when his thumb gently strokes the line of my jaw. My lips part. I want to feel his thumb on my lips, in my mouth. I want to taste Damien. I want to consume him as the fire from his proximity is consuming me.

Join Beth Kery today & her analysis of why Erotic books are so – - – - hot – enjoy!
We all know it’s true, erotic romance is more popular than it’s ever been before. The question is, why? One can’t ask the question without having four words pop into their head: Fifty Shades of Grey. I call E.L. James’ blockbuster bestseller a gateway piece of literature, because it opened up a floodgate for millions to not only the joys of sexy romance, but also to the wonderful experience of reading. Young and old, men and women, housewives and Army colonels are admittedly addicted to this book. Read more
50 Shades of Greyskull . . . new post by the Book MatchMaker
As summer heats up and titles like 50 Shades of Grey and Bared to You by Sylvia Day only add to the scorching temps, Even Josh Groban is getting in on the act when he recently posted on Twitter a version of 50 Shades he’d “want to read.”
While I’m of the generation of He-Man and She-Ra, I don’t believe this is a version I’d be very excited to read, sorry Josh…
I’ve always been a Sylvia Day fan and my mom can’t stop talking about 50 Shades, so I promised my mom that I would eventually cave and read 50 Shades of Grey with the caveat that she would read Bared to You. I believe one is a good exchange for another, yes? Read more

Don’t deny it — at least one million of us have read EL James first book of the Grey trilogy as Amazon just announced this week that Kindle books have sold 1 million copies — so, what did you think?
Was Anastasia the heroine you imagined? Did she compliment our hero, Christian? Did you see any similarities between these characters and TWILIGHT’S H/H? Did you recognize a correlation between Stephanie Meyer’s story and EL James as ***fan fic? Read more

So, Fifty Shades of Grey did not rock your socks? These books will, BDSM Free
I was on the Twitter circuit this week and I heard you all LOUD and CLEAR – some loved Fifty Shades of Grey, others tolerated it . . . but there is a group that is absolutely NOT going to read it. We certainly don’t want you to feel left out just because everyone is into the 50 Shades craze and you’re not, so we’ve some up with a few suggestions for you and your reading pleasure.
Side note – That is one thing I love about social media, the spontaneous interaction you can have — I almost think people are more honest when conversing online rather than if you & I were chatting on the phone or in the office on coffee break.
As usual, this topic originated from a Tweet I initiated asking, ‘Who has NOT read Fifty Shades of Grey.’
I will be honest and say, 70-80% of the responses were a resounding yes – most enjoying the story, and some were just glad they read it to find out what all the fuss was about. Read more
Romance Guest talks about BDSM, her book & Fifty Shades of Grey – and Giveaway!
As someone who’s been writing BDSM-themed erotic fiction for years—my first BDSM novel, The Dark Garden, was released by Bantam in 2007 and I had several e-books out before then—I must admit I’m a bit surprised at all the buzz around E.L. James’ 50 Shades of Grey books. That’s not a statement on the quality of these books, but rather a question about what it was, exactly, that made these books palatable to the mainstream reader?
Is it a sign of a natural cultural evolution in which women are becoming more comfortable with admitting to their desires, even the darker ones? Or is it simply chance that caused the 50 Shades books to go viral, bringing them to a mainstream audience in such grand fashion? I believe the public was, to some extent, simply ready for good erotic fiction, that there are a number of cultural factors involved. But I’m also dissecting 50 Shades to see what about it might be working for mainstream readers.
Romance Readers Are Asking: What to Read Next After Fifty Shades of Grey
Our blog today, is based on what to read after you’ve read the series of Fifty Shades of Grey –
It is thrilling to see the influx of readers into our Romance genre, the question is can we say it is all because of E L James & her Grey series — probably not, but it is still fun to see just the same.
Over the last few weeks you all have been testing my bookselling knowledge as I’ve been trying to come up with books for you to read when Grey is done. Never fear, I’ve put my fingers to the keyboard searching for ‘those’ books; I’ve made my mind perform memory-gymnastics trying to recall all of those sexy books that sell so well; and I’ve asked other readers what is hot in Erotica, and what is not. . . . we’ll tell you ‘who’, which authors and the books you may enjoy after reading the phenomena of Fifty Shades of Grey, ready? Who would be in your Fifty Shades of Grey dream cast?
As many of you know, Fifty Shades of Grey, the racy and wildly popular erotica sensation, has recently been optioned for a movie by Universal Studios (The rights were sold for a whopping 5 millions dollars). While every reader has her own opinions on who should play the mysterious millionaire Christian Grey, the blogosphere is atwitter with photos and demands that Ian Somerhalder take the part.
Romance author, Jill Sorenson – are romance covers too sexy? + Giveaway!
Romance novel covers are often ridiculed for being embarrassingly sexy. They depict shirtless men with washboard abs and buxom ladies in lingerie. The message is clear: hot stuff in here! When I first saw the cover for Caught in the Act, I squealed with delight. This is the kind of image that attracts attention. In steamy romance circles, skin is in.
Or is it? With the amazing success of a dark horse erotic novel called 50 Shades of Grey, I’m wondering if readers appreciate a more subtle approach. The image of a gray tie is simple, classy and subdued. It doesn’t scream sex. It whispers.
I’m an old romance throwback, so my favorite cover style is the clinch. Passionate couple + wardrobe malfunctions + torrid embrace. I can’t get enough of it. But I’ve been reading romance since I was a wee lass in the 1980s. Maybe it’s time for an update.
One thing I know is that readers don’t like to be misled. If the book is kisses-only sweet, and the cover has a half-naked man, there will be complaints. The same may be true of sedate covers. I like to read (and write) explicit love scenes, so “too sexy” is never a problem for me.
What about you? Are you ever embarrassed about romance novel covers? Do you think skin is in or out?
Jill is offering a 3 book giveaway to random commenters below – winners will be chosen by the end of the day & announced in the comment section below – if you are a winner, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll get you your book — mention your preference for ebook or print – good luck!
Kiki Winn – you’ve all won a copy of Jill’s new release – CAUGHT IN THE ACT – emails have been sent to you for shipping information – Congrats!!
Thanks for stopping by! Jill Sorenson
A little bit about Jill:
Jill Sorenson’s family moved from a small town in Kansas to a suburb of San Diego when she was twelve. In the past twenty years, she hasn’t lost her appreciation for sunny weather, her fascination with the Pacific Ocean, or her love for Southern California culture. She still lives in San Diego with her husband, Chris, and their two small children, and is happily working on her next novel.
Caught In the Act:
Romance readers, when do you draw the line with friendship?
As the owner of a flourishing Latin American crafts boutique, Karina Strauss should be basking in her success. Instead she’s worried about her troubled sister, the girlfriend—and prisoner—of drug lord Carlos Moreno. Kari wants no part of that life, but when she helps a friend cross into the United States illegally, two men on opposite sides of the law take notice: Moreno and Adam Cortez, the handsome border protection officer who lets Kari off the hook. It’s not just Kari’s tantalizing flash of skin that catches Adam’s attention—her drug cartel connections bring back the demons of his past.
How far would you go to help family?
Moreno demands that Kari smuggle a package for him in exchange for her sister’s freedom. Adam also gets dangerously close, tempting her to surrender and fulfill her wildest desires. As Kari prepares for the drug run, dark secrets, violent criminals, and deadly consequences lurk around every corner. But concern for her sister drives Kari toward a terrifying act, despite Adam’s warnings, despite her overwhelming fears—and despite the odds against coming out alive.
Jill’s suspense stories have acquired praise from these authors:
“Sorenson’s sleek sensuality and fresh new voice are sure to score big with readers.”—New York Times bestselling author Cindy Gerard
“With Jill Sorenson, you are guaranteed a dangerously addictive, gut-wrenchingly fast-paced read.”—Stephanie Tyler, author of Night Moves
Fifty Shades of Grey – what do you recommend to read next?
The book that is taking the Romance world by storm!!!
So, what do you recommend to readers that have ventured into the romance genre with 50 Shades of Grey . . . . it’s like eating Godiva first and a Hershey bar after . . . everything else is not going to deliver the same level of satisfaction, you know what I mean?
A reader asked me this question just the other day, and I came up with a few authors whose stories reached that level of steam: Robin Schone; Bertrice Small; Lora Leigh; and a few others but then I started blanking out — I could not come up with other steamy stories . . .
So help me help others — together let’s come up with some other titles that would satisfy this new readers pallet . . . I would like some new reads myself *wink*
Remember, every week 5 commenters are randomly chosen to win a FREE book – winners announced on Sunday – good luck!!
