HEA USA Book Review of Stephanie Tyler’s Night Moves

Written By Lea Franczak, USA TODAY CAPTION Night Moves is the fourth book in Stephanie Tyler’s dark, fast-paced Shadow Force series, which chronicles the lives and loves of a group of tough elite Special Forces-trained mercenaries. Tyler’s crisp, gritty prose and dialogue suit these hard-core lethal warriors who embrace the adrenaline rush provided by the dangerous missions they undertake. A prologue takes readers back to when Kell Roberts and Reid Cormier met as young emotionally scarred adolescents living in the same foster home. They forged a tight bond that strengthened during their years in the military. Kell and Reid are as close, if not closer, than brothers. Kell and Reid continue to contend with the devastation caused by a Delta [...]

She looks in the mirror and sees Source: Uploaded by user via shiloh on Pinterest   Meeting the hero of her story doesn’t make things any better. At least not at first. The new year – what will it bring you? + Giveaway!

The new year – what will it bring you? By Cassandra Carr The New Year is here, and that means it’s time to once again assess your life. I’m not a big resolution maker, but I do have goals. They morph and change throughout the year depending on circumstances, but they’re always in the back of my mind. These goals can be anything from finishing a book to cleaning out my closets to teaching my daughter to tie her shoes. I’m not real formal about my goals. I don’t write them down. I don’t quantify them as one-year, five-year, and ten-year goals. But I have them. What are some of my goals? Writing-wise, I’d like to put five or six [...]

What is the appeal of romance novels? + Giveaway!

What is the appeal of romance novels? By Jennifer at Clean Romance Reviews There are few women out there that truly don’t enjoy reading a good romance, even if it’s just once in a while. Though they might not actually site down and read them. I would say that there is rarely a story out there that cannot be improved by adding in a good romance. More than enjoying, I think I am officially obsessed with reading romances, watching romantic movies, or even hearing romantic stories. But I started to think, why is that? Is it because I need to read about how other people have fantastically perfect romances? That I want that perfect knight-in-shining armor and can only get [...]

Reading Resolutions by Heather Daniels-Lire + Giveaway!

Reading Resolutions by Heather Daniels-Lire I’m a resolution and goal person. It drives everyone around me insane but I can’t help it. With that in mind I started thinking about what my goals would be for 2012. I made the requisite lose weight goal, the professional goal, and the be a better mom goal. Then I was stuck. I really wanted a goal for reading, but what could I do. This got me thinking about my reading habits and how I read and what I read. As I went down memory lane I remembered the book mobile lady who introduced me to reading. She would stalk the book mobile with the Boxcar Children, The Babysitters Club and Sweet Valley Twins. [...]

Guest Post -2012 Reading Goals + Giveaway!

2012 Reading Goals Holly: Many of us set resolutions in the new year. I personally don’t believe in resolutions. I feel like I’m just setting myself up for failure when I set resolutions. Year before last, I did set a reading goal. I’d planned to read 144 books and I reached my goal. Last year I set a reading goal of 211 books in 2011 and didn’t reach it. I only read 191 (I think. I haven’t tallied up all the re-reads yet). Not a bad number, but not the number I was shooting for. This year I’m going to try for 200. That’s about 16 books a month, approximately 3 a week. I don’t think that’s unreasonable. 2011 was [...]

Mascot of romance, who would it be? + GIVEAWAY!!

mas·cot    [mas-kot, -kuht] noun an animal, person, or thing adopted by a group as its representative symbol and supposed to bring good luck: The U.S. Navy mascot is a goat. Silly topic, but not really, as I’ve been thinking about this — it seems that all important organizations have mascots, so to speak, right? KIA automobiles now has those adorable hamsters, as pictured above; Taco Bell had that little dog, what breed was he again? Taco Bell had a big promotion a few years back and I bought three or four of those stuffed cuties! Then of course, Geico’s lizard. . . and now I’ve noticed they’re using a pink pig in their commercials as well, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I suppose [...]

FRESH START WITH A NEW BEGINNING + Giveaway!

When Sue from Romance at Random asked me to write about what I like about the New Year, I figured, “This is going to be easy and so much fun. Well, I did sit down to write this post a few times, but it seemed to come out mixed up and all wrong. So… I figured this time, I am just going to write from the heart without an end in mind. I have so many things that I like about a New Year that I almost don’t even know where to start. Lets start with what most people LIKE and HATE. The RESOLUTIONS!!! People love them because it means a new start to that never-ending goal. Even better… it [...]

WINNERS ANNOUNCED – Stranded & looking for a good romance + Giveaway!

I always thought this was one of the most interesting but challenging plot lines in a story, don’t you? Two characters, that have an interest in one another, now together in a situation where they need to work together to get out of it — they could be stranded on a beach? Freezing in an abandoned, home? Linda Howard did this in ICE — great story!! See what I mean? There are so many scenarios that can be created . . . Characters could even be stranded together in a small town as they continually run into one another at the local coffee shop, laundromat, or grocery store. The fun begins when they must work together towards a common or [...]

I love having a warm fire, hot cocoa, reading a book or watching a movie with family — for this time of year it is perfect!! Then, right around January 10th, I’m thinking a trip to a warmer climate might be nice . . . sunshine, warm weather to bike ride in . . .sight see, or of course, read a book by the pool – Time goes by of course, and I’m still at home, shoveling out the driveway and thinking, ‘well, if it would just stop snowing . . A Picture Steals a Thousand Souls…+ Giveaway!

A Picture Steals a Thousand Souls…or maybe I’m just a dork by Gwen Hayes Thanks, Sue, for inviting me to spend the day in your corner of the internets. It’s lovely here. My second book, Dreaming Awake, was released a few days ago, and I’m running into a slight publicity issue that I could use some advice about. I’m hoping your readers can help me. Every couple of months, somebody, usually somebody from my publisher, asks if I have an author photo. The embarrassing answer is always, “No.” I’m no shy wallflower, as anyone who has ever met me or read my Twitter feed can tell you, but there is something about having my picture taken that makes me want [...]

Holiday decorations . . . when do you take them down? + Giveaway!!

I love the holidays — the smells from baking cookies, the cheer created as you’re decorating the tree, decorating your house; I love the music, the movies — I love the holidays. The problem is, I never get to start them when I want to . . . . my tree went up on December 4th, was that too early to put up my tree? Hanukkah is later this year, December 20 – 28 – is it too early then to put up a menora? The stores started decorating in July, well maybe Oct — but, they had Christmas items for sale back in August!! I should be able to put my tree up the day after Thanksgiving, don’t you [...]

Sue’s Review – The Demon Lover, by Juliet Dark + 5 Book Giveaway!!

Description: I gasped, or tried to. My mouth opened, but I couldn’t draw breath. His lips, pearly wet, parted and he blew into my mouth. My lungs expanded beneath his weight. When I exhaled he sucked my breath in and his weight turned from cold marble into warm living flesh. Since accepting a teaching position at remote Fairwick College in upstate New York, Callie McFay has experienced the same disturbingly erotic dream every night: A mist enters her bedroom, then takes the shape of a virile, seductive stranger who proceeds to ravish her in the most toe-curling, wholly satisfying ways possible. Perhaps these dreams are the result of her having written the bestselling book The Sex Lives of Demon Lovers. [...]

Christmas Memories + Giveaway – Ereader from Jessica Scott

Christmas Memories I’m writing today and celebrating. This is an incredibly special Christmas for my family. My husband is finally home from Iraq and for the last time. The war is over, he won’t be going back. My kids have been little the first couple of Christmases my husband was gone. I doubt they remember the Christmas that he and I were both deployed. I remember it well. There were little Christmas lights hanging in the TOC (tactical operations center) and I distinctly remember a few lonely ornaments hanging on a tree outside the CHU (containerized housing unit) I was fortunate to share with my husband. Funny, I remember the green and the particular shade of blue of those ornaments. [...]

Celebrating the Return of our Military + Giveaway

As we celebrate the return of US military personnel from Iraq, many more are still deployed, stationed overseas, or just unable to return home. Although being away from home can be a challenge, it also offers unique ways to celebrate the holiday season. I asked my “sisters in arms” at the RomVets, www.romvets.com, to share how they celebrated the holidays during their military service. From Merline Lovelace, USAF Al and I were in Vietnam for the Christmas of 1971. He was at Danang, I was in Saigon but managed to catch a hop up to spend Christmas Eve and Day with him. I hauled enough cheese, crackers and other goodies from the PX at Tan Son Nhut for us to [...]

It’s the little things…+Giveaway!

It’s the little things… By Cassandra Carr It’s December, and that means the holidays, no matter what religion you do (or don’t) practice. The holidays can pass by in a blur of buying, baking, and booking – from house to house or party to party – or they can be a time for quiet reflection on life’s blessings. I understand how hard it is to get everything done but still take time to appreciate the season. After all, I have a child and both sides of my family live in the area, but I do what I can. During the holidays, it’s the little things that matter – the smile on your child’s face when you let her help with [...]

Readings of Comfort and Joy + Giveaway!

Readings of Comfort and Joy During the holiday season when it seems as though I don’t have ten minutes to myself, much less time to read, I find myself reaching for my old battered copy of Saving Grace by Julie Garwood or my well worn copy of Paradise by Judith McNaught. Whether I’m nursing a cold, shopping for Christmas presents or running the dog to the vet because he chased a squirrel and didn’t see the tree until he ran smack into it (Yes, this really happened!) sometimes I just want to cuddle up with one of my comfort reads! I love the story, I love the characters and absolutely love to revisit that book (or author) time and again, [...]
