The Assassins are here! Plus book giveaway!
After meeting my favorite hockey team, the Nashville Predators, I came home and sat in a complete daze. It was amazing to be surrounded by amazing men that love hockey as much as you do, but that wasn’t the reason my series was born. No, it was meeting the most amazing player in hockey, and that’s Shea Weber. He was huge, towering over me with a playoff bear that could make a grown man cry. He was sweet and smiled, and talked to me like I was his friend.
That was it.
I was in hockey love with the greatest defenseman in the NHL. My uncontrollable, borderline stalkerish love for Shea Weber not only made me love the Preds more, but it always sparked the inspiration of my Assassins series.
I came home, sat in front of my computer and the next thing I knew, the first chapter of Taking Shots was written. I wrote this amazing woman, with real life issues, that finds her knight in a hockey jersey! I am always annoyed how romance books sometimes are – the couple meets, they have sex, they break up, and then they get back together, the end! It drives me insane, so I decided that I was going to write Shea and Elli’s whole love story for the world and I couldn’t love their story more.
When I finished, Taking Shots, I never thought that my little hockey book would be a series, but then I was driving my kids to school and all of a sudden Fallon and Lucas were in mind, telling me their story and Lucas was wearing an Assassins jersey. Trying to Score was born and even though there is drama and heartache, it has a male lead that is totally devoted to making things right. After finishing their story, I decided that I had something here, and that I loved my little hockey world and couldn’t give it up.
Audrey and Tate’s story was hard. Like all my books, they come from my heart but Empty Net was from a dark place. Like Audrey, I was told I could never have children, and it was hard to write that, but I did and their love is one for the books. After writing Falling for the Backup and Blue Lines, and now Book 5 in the Assassins series, I’m starting to think, I might have a pretty awesome hockey world here, one that I think all the world needs to read and will love. I write things that happen every day to women just like us and men that love their women, the way a woman should be loved.
Its funny how all this started and I can’t believe all it took was meeting my hockey icon before my series was born. I know a lot of you are probably like Shea Weber must think you’re crazy! But he doesn’t. He has told me multiple times how proud of me he is. It makes me giggle every time!
So my question is, what inspires you every day, and how has it changed your life?

About the author:
I am a wife, mother of two and a bulldog, and also a hopeless romantic.
I have been told I have anger issues, but I think it’s cause of my intense love for hockey!
I am the biggest Shea Weber fan ever, and can be found during hockey season with my nose pressed against the Bridgestone Arena’s glass, watching my Nashville Predators play!
When my nose isn’t pressed against the glass, I enjoy going to my husband and son’s hockey games, my daughter’s dance competition, hanging with my best friends, taking pictures, scrapbooking, and reading the latest romance novel.
I have a slight Disney and Harry Potter obsession, I love things that sparkle, I love the color pink, I might have been a Disney Princess in a past life…probably Belle, and did I mention I love hockey?

About the book:
In Toni Aleo’s exhilarating debut, the first in a series featuring the hockey hunks of the Nashville Assassins, a reformed bad boy helps a charming, willful woman face off against the demons of her past.
No matter how hard she tries, Elleanor Fisher never thinks she’s good enough, from her job to her weight to her love life. After enduring years of abuse at the hands of an ex-boyfriend, Elli has been drifting through life in a daze. Until, that is, she meets Shea Adler on a promotional shoot for the NHL’s Nashville Assassins. Before Elli knows what’s happening, the gorgeous Shea breaks the ice and shatters her world.
A brilliant athlete inside the rink, Shea Adler is tired of the life he’s living outside of it: the girls, the money, the drinking. But everything changes when he meets Elli. After laying eyes on this feisty, witty, beautiful woman, he feels like he’s just taken the hardest hit of his life. No matter how skeptical she is, Shea knows they are meant to be together—if only he can convince Elli to put her insecurities aside throw her insecurities out the window before she misses out on a shot at love.
